Install DaVinci Resolve In Ubuntu, Linux Mint Or Debian (DEB Package)

Resolve, when launched in 2004, was a next-generation color grading system and the first system to use multiple parallel processing engines within normal PC computer infrastructure for real time 2K resolution color grading. Powered at launch by da Vinci’s proprietary hardware cards, known as PowerPlant cards, Resolve delivered real time HD and up to 4K resolution non-linear color grading.

DaVinci Resolve 15 is the world’s first solution that combines professional offline and online editing, color correction, audio post production and now visual effects all in one software tool! You get unlimited creative flexibility because DaVinci Resolve 15 makes it easy for individual artists to explore different toolsets. It also lets you collaborate and bring people with different creative talents together. With a single click, you can instantly move between editing, color, effects, and audio.

The latest DaVinci Resolve 15 beta finally brings native audio support on Linux.

On Linux, DaVinci Resolve officially supports CentOS only, and requires some tweaks to get it to work on other Linux distributions. Some guides out there mention using some quite ugly hacks to get the application to work on Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint, which modify system libraries. Furthermore, even on CentOS, the application can't be properly removed.

To avoid these issues and generate a proper DEB package for Debian, Ubuntu or Linux MInt, see the article from this website. After following the instructions from there you should end up with a simple to install "davinci-resolve_15.0*_amd64.deb". Note that DaVinci Resolve 15 requires a recent Nvidia graphics card and h26x is not supported in the free version. Also, it only runs on 64bit Linux systems.
